Welcome to The Root, a charming café nestled along State Route 101 in Temple, NH. This unique cafe is a hidden gem for both locals and travelers seeking a serene and wholesome dining experience. The Root stands out as an inviting stop where rustic New England charm meets fresh, organic food.

As you step inside this expansive barn-like structure, you’ll immediately be captivated by the warm ambiance created by its beautiful wooden interiors. The spacious layout allows for both quiet corners and communal tables where you can enjoy delicious meals alone or with friends. The atmosphere here is chill and relaxed, making it the perfect place to unwind with a book or engage in meaningful conversation.

The culinary offerings at The Root focus on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients that truly celebrate the flavors of New England. Although the menu evolves, be sure to try their incredible maple lemonade, a crowd favorite noted for its refreshing zing and sweet undertones. Additionally, many dishes incorporate vegetables and herbs grown right on the premises, ensuring you savor the essence of farm-to-table dining.

Customers rave about the wholesome meals available. With dishes made from ingredients cultivated in their own greenhouse and organic fields, you can indulge your taste buds while feeling good about what you're eating. As customer Isabelle Rose beautifully described, it's a “beautiful, wholesome, serene environment” that leaves a lasting impression.

Live music events enhance the vibrant atmosphere, transforming the café into a lively hub on select nights. Whether you're savoring a heartwarming breakfast or a satisfying lunch, the experience is often complemented by the warm smiles of the staff, whose customer service adds a personal touch to your visit.

What sets The Root apart from other roadside stops are these intimate touches and the deep connection to the land. As highlighted by Robyn O'Neal, this café is “completely unlike any other,” embodying a unique blend of history, charm, and earth-driven cuisine.

If you're exploring the Monadnock region or simply traveling on Route 101, make The Root a destination not to be missed. With delicious food and a tranquil environment, it beckons you to return time and time again. Immerse yourself in the calmness, enjoy the beautifully sourced ingredients, and take a moment to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding this delightful hideaway.

The atmosphere is very chill and they have great little food items every times I've been. The menu has some changing items but one that seems to stay is the maple lemonade. It's amazing.

I only write reviews about places that gave me a great experience. I don't give less than five stars because it would imply lack in some areas. That's just me. I'm not a professional critic. I'm a professional encourager. The Root is completely unlike any other roadside/wayside cafe. It's a huge New England style barn. Spacious and spartan. The outstanding feature is the WOOD! The history is implied through one's imagination. No decor, no theme necessary. Large tables spaced far apart for intimacy among friends. My latte was the best! My server was bright, knowledgeable, and completely focused on me, skilled in the art of conversation. He added to my delightful experience. And musical entertainment is scheduled routinely. The Root is rooted in faithfulness to its patrons.

Beautiful, wholesome, serene environment with delicious food and they grow their own vegetables and herbs right there, all year long in their green house and organic land! Take a small day trip if you are in the Monadnock Region, you will enjoy the calmness and natural beauty of this place. One of our favorite getaways.

Super cute, fresh food, organic farm viewable from the window, right on the way to Monadnock and Miller state parks. Inside is so cute too. Will be back
